Selection Trial - Talent Honing Stage

PREAMBLE

As in previous years, our primary focus in 2009 will also be towards the strengthening and improvement of the establishment of our High Performance Infrastructure (HPI) for Malaysian tennis. This will enable LTAM to systematically produce world class tennis players every year.

The second stage of the so-called High Performance Infrastructure saw the need to regularly conduct proven and fair selection trial during centralized training at LTAM Tennis Academy, preferably monthly, to hone the skills of selected elite players in the National, Back Up, Future and Junior Squads. The Selection Trial or Challenge League will be the basis to select elite players at the centralized training for a particular oncoming international exposure event/s. A slight modification to the approach in previous years to ensure the so-called elite players will continue to maintain or improve their ranking position at all times and at the same time provide equal opportunities for other elite players to qualify.

For example, these elite players from the various squads, will be shorlisted through a transparent and unbiased ITF and local ranking and special exempt system, to attend the Selection Trial for an oncoming international exposure event/s. These elite players will be participate in an In-House Round Robin Competition called Challenge League to determine who will be sponsored and/or endorsed to represent Malaysia in the next stage of the High Performance Infrastructure, namely , exposure in international tournaments and/or tennis academies overseas.
