PREAMBLE
Our primary focus for 2009 will also be towards the strenghtening and improving the establishment of our High Performance Infrastructure (HPI) for tennis in Malaysia that will enable LTAM to systematically produce world class tennis players every year.
The third stage of the so-called High Performance Infrastructure saw the need to regularly organize participation in international tournaments and/or overseas tennis academies to expose the skills of selected elite players from each Selection Trial with a view to obtain tournament esposure and the required ranking points to qualify for our national Back-Up Squad or Pelapis and the National Squad if they are not yet qualified.
The mammoth task in front of LTAM is to obtain the necessary funding from MSN and private sponsors for this stage of the High Performance Infrastructure. Proper and timely proposal presentation must be made to ensure the funds are available before the start of the oncoming esposure event. At the same time, we will be sanctioning a ATP, WTA and an Exhibition events to collect sanction fees for our tennis development.
The selected Elite players are those selected players in each Selection Trial Camp. They may be fully or partially sponsored and/or endorsed to participate and/or represent Malaysia in the any international ITF, ATP, WTA tournaments and/or proven tennis academies approved by LTAM.
It is envisaged our elite players will be in a position to obtain the necessary ranking points to qualify for the National Back Up Squad or Pelapis or the National Squad. Only elite players managing to obtain and maintain ITF Junior ranking points of below 150 at any particular time in the year will qualify to be in the National Back-Up Squad. As a member of the National Back-Up Squad they will obtain a monthly subsistence allowance, intensive training, equipment and stringing services and fully funded international exposure program, provided always, they maintain the required ranking points and are successful in the Selection Trials every month in the year.
To qualify for the National Squad all Elite players must obtain ITF, ATP or WTA senior ranking points. As for Back-Up Squad, they will also receive a monthly subsistence allowance, intensive training, equipment and stringing services and fully funded international exposure program, provided always, they maintain the required ranking points and are successful in Selection Trials every month in the year.
