2011 Super-Senior Team World Championships Fact Sheet & Entry Form

Please be informed the upcoming entry deadline for the 2011 Super-Senior Team World Championships. The championships will take place at the Ali Bey Club Manavgat, Antalya, Turkey from the 10-15th October 2011.

The closing date for team entries is Monday 18th July 2011 and will be strictly adhered to.

Chang obtains US PTR certification in Singapore

Sarawak’s Oscar Chang reached a milestone in his tennis career when he obtained certification as an associate instructor from the US Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).

The 19-year-old from Kuching was the only Sarawakian who attended a two-day course in Singapore last December with 29 other participants from Japan, Thailand, China, Singapore, India, Philippines and Malaysia.

PTR master professional tester and clinics conductor Dr Louie Cap, who is also an International Staff Clinician, conducted the course.


Talhah wants to be a champion

KELANA JAYA: Talhah Rahizam (pic) is only 13 but he already has big dreams.

The Bukit Jalil Sports School lad aspires to be a world-class tennis star. However, he is well aware that he needs to work extra hard to fulfil his dream.

"I love the sport and I want to be a champion. I'm diligent and hope it will pay off handsomely someday."

Talhah, son of former national coach Rahizam Abdul Rahim, picked up tennis several years ago and it was love at first sight.

KELANA JAYA: Fancy picking up tennis, for free?

Head over to the PJ City Council Sports Complex in Kelana Jaya for the council's "Tennis For All" programme every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday evening (4pm onwards) for children aged four to 16.

Former national coach S. Selvarajoo oversees the programme which enjoys a huge turnout.


Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group III - Sri Lanka beat Lebanon

Sri Lankan tennis players lived up to the expectations in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone III tournament and got promoted to the group II. The tournament concluded yesterday at the Sri lanka Tennis Association courts when the local team registered their last victory against strong Lebanon team. As both teams were already selected to the group II, the last tie between the two countries did not display a good competition.


Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group III - So close yet so far

After a promising attempt Sri Lanka gained back promotion to the Group II of the Asia/Oceanic Davis Cup tennis competition after the home team recorded an early 2-0 lead against Malaysia at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts in Colombo, reports Sri Lanka's The Sunday Times online.

Sri Lankan singles players, Oshada Wijemanne and Harshana Godamanne beat their Malaysian counterparts with ease in the crucial Group III matches as they help their country to take a relieving 2-0 lead in the competition.


Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group III - Gritty Malaysians advance

Malaysia progressed into the winner's pool in the Asia/Oceania Gourp III Davis Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka.


The national players defeated UAE and Oman with similar scores of 2-1 before losing to Lebanon 3-0. Lebanon top Group B with Malaysia in second place.


Nevertheless, it has been a challenging time for the Malaysians as they suffered food poisoning a day before playing Oman on June 15 after eating at the official hotel Ceylon Continental Hotel.


Malaysia beats UAE 2-1

The UAE's Davis Cup team did not have the best of days as they succumbed first to Malaysia in a rain-interrupted tie and then caved in to Lebanon on the second day of the 2011 Asia/Oceania Zone Group III Davis Cup encounter being played in Sri Lanka.
