LTAM Sportexcel –MSN-Milo 14 Under 2012 – Leg 3 ( 26 – 30 May 2012)

The LTAM Sportexcel 14U 2012 – Leg 3 ended today with Talhah Rahizam emerged as the Boys Singles outshined number 3 seed, Sheikh Ameer Sheikh Ahmad, up and coming player from Kuala Lumpur, 61, 62. In Leg 2, Talhah was the runners up to Mohd Khairil Anas Rahim. In Tier 2, Boys Singles, Adam Syafiq, the number 1 seed from Perlis, received a walkover from Mohd Shami Mazlan from Kedah. In the Boys Doubles Finals, Tier 1, Mohd Khairil Anas and Ranveer Singh beat Talhah Rahizam and Sheikh Ameer, 63, 64. Pulau Pinang pair of Lee Huang Yi and Brian Lee emerged the winner, when they beat Shanker Ganesan and Chan Kau Lin  60, 61.

In the absence of Nurin Nabila Roslan and Yussazlin Nabila Yusri, we have a new winner this time around, in Suhana Sofea Mohd Adam, number 6 seed who beat Aida Hareena Hairi , number 5 seed from Perlis, 76(5) 63. In the Girls Tier 2 Finals, Nur Aniess Shamida from Kedah beat Elsa Wan Rahman, 62,63. In the Girls Doubles Tier 1, Finals, the combination of Aida Hareena from Perlis and Nur Hazira Hamidon from Negri Sembilan, fought hard to upstaged the number 1 seed, Selangorian, Samantha Jane and Tara Afzalirad, 64, 46 (10-7). Sofea Maisara and Nabilah Mohd Sahi were the winner in the Girls Doubles, Tier 2 when they beat Amisha Fadzli and Farah Farid, 60, 63.

Overall, the players that participated that came from all over the Country went back satisfied, being able to play at least four matches. With the introduction of Tier 2 and the best of three tie break sets provide intensity to the tournament. For now, Talhah Rahizam  appeared to be consistent in the Boys 14U category and a new winner in the Girls Singles Tier 1, Suhana Sofea with full support from her parents gave promise that tennis looked bright in years to come.

The curtain will fall tomorrow for this successful leg 3 of the LTAM Sportexcel 14 U played at the KTTR, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur. With favourable weather, the tournament was played on schedule. Four finals were played today, namely, the Boys Doubles Tier 1 and 2 and the Girls Doubles, Tier 1 and 2.

In the Boy’s Singles, Tier 1, quarter finals, Talhah defeated Stefan Gligorov, 62, 61 and Rohaizat Achop Borhan upstaged Ryan Lee, 61, 62. In the other quarter finals, Sheikh Ameer Sheikh Ahmad received a walkover from Mohd Asyraff Safian. Mohd Khairil Anas, overcame Ranveer Singh, 62, 75, to enter the semi finals.

In the doubles, the combination of Sheikh Ameer and Talhah Rahizam, the number one seed, proved the seeding correct, by defeated Mohd Asyraff Safian and Rohaizat Achop Borhan 62, 61. In the other semi finals, Mohd Khairil Anas and Ranveer Singh, the number 2 seed defeated Sri Aakash Reddiyar and Amirul Asri Razak 36, 64, (10-3).

Meanwhile, in Tier 2 of the Boys Singles, Adam Syafiq Khisam will meet Shankar Ganesan, in the Semi finals and Muhd Shamil Mazlan will face Amit Singh Atwal, in the second semi finals.

The Girls Tier 1 saw number 7 seed, Nurul Amirah from KL, will be challenge by Aida Hareena Hairi from Perlis, whilst Tara Afzalirad, from Selangor, the number 2 seed meeting Suhana Sofea Adam also from Selangor. For Tier 2, Nor Shahira Ahmad from Pahang meet Elsa Wan and in the other semi finals, Nur Aniess, representing Kedah will lock horns with Siti Norafarah Mohd, from Terengganu.

Semi Finals matches for all category will be played tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 May 2012. Play begins at 0900 Hrs.

LTAM Level 1 Part 2 Coaches Course 2012

The LTAM Level 1 Part 2 Coaches Course 2012 will be held on 10 to 15 September 2012 at the Kompleks Tenis Tun Razak, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur. For further details, please see attachment.


LTAM Sportexcel –MSN-Milo 14 Under 2012 – Leg 3 ( 26 – 30 May 2012)

Talhah Rahizam, the number 1 seed advanced to the quarter finals when he easily beat Azrul Ehsan Zaman, of Perlis 61, 60. Talhah will meet Stefan Gligorov who beat Satveer Singh, 62, 60.

Mohd Khairil Anas, the number two seed made short work of Shamirul Shahril Mohd Adam of Selangor, 60, 60. Mohd Khairil Anas Abd Rahim will square of with Ranveer Singh Ryan in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, the no 2 seed in the girls singles, Tara Afzalirad advanced to the quarter finals after a hard fought match against Juliana Shalini Ganendra 26, 64, 64.

ITF Officiating - Razmee Rawi

Realising that he would not make it as an ATP player at the age of 20, Miri born, Razmee Rawi chose to engage himself in the world of tennis as an official, to be more specific, a chair umpire. There are only four such persons holding an International Tennis Federation (ITF) white badge, in our country.

Razmee started his tennis at the age of 6 and played in the National Junior circuit at age 10 and ITF juniors at age 14. By the age of 17, he struggled in the circuit and decided that his only option left  in tennis is to become an ITF Official.

In 2010, Razmee gained his ITF White Badge Certification in Bangkok, Thailand. The White Badge is the beginning of an officiating career in Tennis, followed by Bronze, Silver and Gold Badge.  After 2 years of gaining his white badge, Razmee has officiated in several tournaments, such as the Futures in South East Asia, including the SEA Games in Palembang, Indonesia. He has also officiated in ATP and WTA events.

He said, “Everyone can be a qualified tennis official if they have the passion and dedication in the sport”

His ambition is now to attend and ITF level 3 School to obtain his Bronze Badge.

Razmee Rawi is the referee in the on going LTAM Sportexcel 14U 2012 Leg 3.


LTAM Sportexcel –MSN-Milo 14 Under 2012 – Leg 3 ( 26 – 30 May 2012)

The 3rd leg of the LTAM Sportexcel, MSN, Milo 2012 took off on 26th May at the KTTR, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur with 64 entries in the Boys Singles and 30 players entered for the Girls Singles.

Talhah Rahizam was placed as the Number 1 seed, Mohd Khairil Anas, number 2, Sheikh Ameer at number 3 and Muhd Saiful as the number 4 seed. Koay Hao Sheng from Perlis did not take part in this tournament due to injury.

Matches in the Boys singles are now in the 3rd round on the second day of the tournament.

Meanwhile in the Girls singles, Yus Syazlin Yusri of Perlis  and Nurin Nabilah  pulled out of the tournament also due to injury. 

The Boys Singles 3rd round Tier 1, Boys Singles Tier 2 and the Girls singles Tier 1 first Round commenced today. The tournament ends on Wednesday, 30 May 2012.

ITF Level 3 Officiating School - Hong Kong, SAR, 7-10 October 2012

A Level 3 Officiating School will be held in Hong Kong, SAR, 7-10 October 2012. Please find attached a memo from ITF Officiating and the application documents. These can also be downloaded at www.tennisofficial.com. Please note that this school will start on Sunday 7 October and finish on Wednesday 10 October 2012.

Applications must be submitted no later than 29 July 2012.

Level 3 Officiating Schools are intended for officials with proven ability and experience of working at professional level tournaments (i.e. ITF Pro Circuit, ATP and WTA tournaments, Davis Cup, Fed Cup). Successful candidates will be certified as International Officials, ie a Bronze Badge Chair Umpire; a Silver Badge Chief Umpire and/or Referee according to modules completed and passed. International Officials are recognised by the ITF, ATP and WTA in the Joint Certification Programme for Officials.

Please note that due to the Level 3 School format, candidates wishing to attend in more than one capacity may only attend a combination of the following:

·         Chair Umpire and Referee

·         Chair Umpire and Chief Umpire

Please note that officials accepted for the Chair Umpire’s module will have to submit a valid Eye Test Form. The Chair Umpire’s certification will be subject to receipt of a valid Eye Test Form.

2012 Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying (WJT Girls), 7 May - 14 May 2012

The Malaysian girls fought hard right to the end of the 9 to 16th placing in the 2012 Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying (WJT Girls) but found Indonesia a tough nut to crack in this group. Indonesia like Malaysia would not want to end their campaign in Kuching at 10th place. The result of the Malaysia and Hong Kong match will decide for the 11th and 12th placing.
