 ITF AGM concludes in Copenhagen

 

 

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, accompanied by Wimbledon doubles champion, Frederik Nielsen, officially opened the ITF Annual General Meeting in Copenhagen on Friday. The 2012 meeting was attended by 220 delegates, partners and staff. 

Awards for Services to the Game approved were by the AGM for Dr. Ernst Wolner of Austria, Koji Watanabe of Japan, Mahesh Bhupathi of India, Vladimir Lazarev of Russia, Sergio Elias of Chile and Petra Pichalova-Langrova of Czech Republic. The AGM also approved an Award for Services to the Game for Alberto Riba (ESP) recommended by the ITF Coaches Commission.

 

 

BEACH TENNIS: Italians triumph in Moscow

Italy overcame Brazil 2-0 to win the inaugural ITF Beach Tennis World Team Championship in Moscow. Simona Briganti and Laura Olivieri, and Alessandro Calbucci and Luca Meliconi secured victory for the No. 1 seeds.

Sweden’s Mats Wilander has been honoured with the 2012 IC Jean Borotra Sportsmanship Award, which was presented to him during the Wimbledon fortnight by outgoing IC Chairman Barry Weatherill.
