For the first time, the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia will organize a sport carnival involving Universities and Colleges in Malaysia who will compete in 15 Sport including tennis. It is an honour for tennis to be included since it is not an elite sport under NSC. Surprisingly, Soccer and Hockey, two major sport in the Country have been omitted among the lists.
Other sports to be contested are, Badminton, Net ball, Volley ball, Beach Volley ball, Chess, Karate Do, Archery, Shooting, Athletics, Rugby 7, Swimming, Sepak Takraw and Taekwando. Tenpin Bowling wil be held at Mega Lane/Indah Parade and Beach Volley ball at Xtreme Centre, Bukit Jalil. Almost all Universities in and around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be utilize for this purpose. Tennis will be played at University Putera Malaysia, Serdang.
It is expected 10,000 athlete will take part in this extravaganza from 27 October to 8 November, 2012.
The launching of this gigantic event will be held on 24 May, 2012 in Putra Jaya.
The first technical meeting for this event between Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia ( MASUM) and Secretaries of Sport Associations involved was held on 9 May 2012 at Oriental Crystal Hotel in Kajang. The meeting was chaired by Professor Madya Dr Datuk Kassim Hj Mat Mansur, Chairman of MASUM. Tennis was represented by its Honorary Secretary at the meeting.
