PREAMBLE
As in previus years, our primary focus for 2009 will be towards the strenghtening and improving the establishment of our High Performance Infrastructure (HPI) for Malaysian tennis. This will enable LTAM to systematically produce world class players every year.
The first stage of the development of such High Performance Infrastructure (HPI) requires LTAM to organize more local and international competitions and tournaments at tennis academies, centers, schools and clubs in the various communities, states and national l. These locally organized and sanctioned local and international competitions and tournaments shall be the basis for the LTAM to identify promising high performance players via a proven and reliable ranking system. For ITF tournaments this will not pose any problems as there already exist a proven and widely accepted ITF ranking system. We only need to adopt an acceptable conversion system for local ranking points to ITF. Ideally, more international tournaments the better it is.
This is the so-called the “Talent Identification” stage and State Affiliates, Tennis academies, centers, schools and clubs are required to sit down and discuss with LTAM the community and state tournaments to be held, ideally, prior to the commencement of the year in question. LTAM shall be responsible for the organisation of national tournaments but any State Affiliates willing to do so are welcomed. More tournaments will mean a bigger base for talent identification.
Ideally, if all such national and international tournaments are supplemented by a well organised Qualifying rounds held over the weekends may ensure affordable and strong participation to unearth good potential talents.
